Cheques are now able to be cleared much faster, providing that sufficient funds are available. If you pay via cheque then it is possible that funds will be withdrawn from your account by 23:59 the next week day.
This new method, called the Image Clearing System, allows for images of cheques to be exchanged between banks and building societies, as opposed to having to move paper cheques around the country.
Don’t worry though - you don’t have to do anything differently from before. If you do have any questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your branch manager who will be able to help.
