The team at Rainy Day Trust had a very busy 2016, not only did they move casework provider and become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, they also launched a whole new series of programmes. The charity focuses on giving financial aid to those who work, or have worked, in the home improvement and enhancement industry and have fallen on hard times.
In 2016, the number of people helped by Rainy Day Trust grew by almost 20% and the total amount of financial aid awarded grew by 23%. This shows the growth of the charity, but also the increased need for its existence.
However, financial help is just one part of the work completed at Rainy Day Trust. The charity is all about empowering people to help themselves and offering support to help them out of the situation they’re in on a more permanent basis. They offer free housing advice in partnership with Shelter and have a comprehensive e-learning package designed to help people retrain and upskill. Their Winter fuel pack was introduced this year to help the less fortunate pay their bills and have their boiler serviced through Winter. Other services included telephone counselling and a debt advice partnership with the Debt Advice Foundation, the latest service to help callers deal with their personal debt and identify solutions.
In all, 2016 has been a highly successful year for the charity, helping more people than ever before and developing their charitable offering. Learn more about Rainy Day Trust on their website here.
