Despite growth slowing slightly, independent retailers still reported a fifth successive quarter of growth. Independent retailers are still experiencing good times according to the British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA).
BIRA’s quarterly survey showed that six out ten businesses grew. Where as only 4 out of 10 reported a slight decline. Wales and Scotland were the leaders on growth with the Midlands and East Anglia closely following. Growth did fall from 2.35% in the mid year period to 1.33%, it’s lowest point of the year. However BIRA’s respondents also showed the greatest turnover in the history of the survey.
Overall, of all the respondents a massive 75% said that they were confident of the year ahead. This news means independent retailers can expect a positive outlook for 2016.
