It’s a sad fact of life that we need home security, but year on year home burglaries are on the rise. It’s even creeping into rural areas where you wouldn’t traditionally have thought such crimes took place. In this post we’re going to look at 5 security essentials that we think each home should have...

Security Lights

Darkness is the ally of the typical thief, it’s surprising how a bit of light can put them off attempting to gain entry to a home. Security lights come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. It’s best to place them around areas of your home that you feel may be more vulnerable to forced entry or that shine light on potential ‘skulking’ areas.

You can see our trade only range of security lighting here.

CCTV Cameras

Keep would be burglars at bay with a CCTV camera. The main appeal of having CCTV in your home is that it’s off putting, most burglars will do their homework first, a house with a CCTV camera is not an attractive option.

We have a number of CCTV options at Stax, we also stock dummy cameras which look just like the real thing! See them here.

Security Door Locks

Most homes will have some form of a security lock, however, some locks are more easily picked or snapped than others. Make sure your home has a good quality deadbolt.

Stax stock a wide range of door security options at low trade prices, see the range here.

Window Locks

Window locks are often overlooked as an option, however, this is the route of choice for many a would-be burglar. A good quality window lock can make all the difference. You might think that a burglar might just smash a window to gain entry, but that's noisy and many thieves would likely be put off if they couldn’t gain entry silently.

We have a number of window locking options for a variety of window types at Stax.

Alarm System/ Motion Detector

Nothing thwarts a home invasion like a siren, and there are plenty of options available to the modern homeowner. The most common is a motion detector which you fit in key rooms of the home and triggers an alarm if it senses someone moving through the house.

You can find pet-friendly and easy fit motion sensor alarms at Stax Trade Centres.

And there you have it, our 5 essentials of home security!
